A restaurant with history
If you have lived in Reston long enough, you probably have a Clyde’s story. A birthday dinner, a Friday happy hour, a post-game table full of teenagers. Clyde’s of Reston closed in May 2022 after 31 years, and plenty of locals have been waiting to see what came next.
The answer is Ebbitt House. Reston Now reported in March 2023 that Clyde’s Restaurant Group planned a new restaurant at Reston Station, at 1860 Reston Row Plaza, inspired by the group’s Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington. According to Northern Virginia Magazine on August 28, 2026, it is now expected to open in October.
By the numbers: 31 years at Reston Town Center. Closed May 2022. A reported 125-seat covered patio at the new spot. Sources: Northern Virginia Magazine and FFXnow, 2026.
What is on the menu
FFXnow reported on August 21, 2026 that Ebbitt House will have “its own menu, its own character” rather than copying the D.C. original, with burgers, steak, house-made pastas and seafood among the highlights. Northern Virginia Magazine’s preview describes elevated American classics: fresh calamari, steaks and chops, escargot, steak tartare and house-made pasta, plus an oyster and raw bar. CEO John McDonnell told the magazine the kitchen makes its pasta in house every day.
There is also a patio with its own bar, and the magazine reports ceiling heaters meant to keep it usable through the cooler months. The same piece mentions happy hour discounts on raw bar items and late-night service aimed at restaurant workers. Those details come from pre-opening reporting, so they could change.
Why the timing slipped
This one has been a long wait. The 2023 announcement pointed to a 2025 opening. A later WhatNow report said early 2026. Now the target is October 2026. I could not find a published reason for each delay, so I will not guess at one. If you are planning a dinner there, treat any date as a target until the doors actually open.
The seat counts have also moved around depending on the source. The 2023 announcement mentioned 300 indoor seats. Northern Virginia Magazine’s August 2026 piece says 250 total seats plus the patio, while FFXnow describes a 260-seat dining room with two private rooms. The safest takeaway is that it is a big restaurant, and the final numbers are worth checking on opening day.
A Reston Station that keeps filling in
Ebbitt House opens across from the new JW Marriott, per Northern Virginia Magazine. FFXnow lists a growing neighbor group on Reston Row as well, including Noku Sushi, Tous Les Jours bakery, Vida Fitness and an indoor golf simulator concept called Back Nine.
For anyone thinking about where to live near the Silver Line, that matters in a practical way. Walkable dining within a short stroll of Metro is a big part of why people look at the Reston Station side of town. If you are curious how that area compares with Town Center and the lakes, the Reston realtor page is a good starting point.
What to know before you go
Expect a busy first few weeks. A name this familiar, a new building and a long wait add up to crowds. Check the restaurant’s own channels for reservation details and an official opening date before you head over, and plan on parking in the Reston Station area rather than assuming a spot out front.
