Big Greek Cafe Is Coming to North Point Village Center. Here’s the First Look

Good news for anyone who lives near North Point in Reston and has been waiting for something new to fill that empty spot next to Giant. Big Greek Cafe is opening a location at North Point Village Center, taking over the space that California Tortilla vacated back in spring of 2025.

I live in Reston and I am in and out of this shopping center more than almost anyone, whether I am running errands between showings or grabbing dinner on the way home. So here is what I know, straight from the source.

What is Big Greek Cafe

Big Greek Cafe is a family owned fast casual Greek restaurant that started in Maryland and has been expanding steadily into Northern Virginia. The brand grew fast after a merger with SouvlakiBar in late 2024, which brought existing locations in Oakton, Alexandria, Sterling, and Leesburg under the Big Greek name. The Reston location will be the brand’s first ground up new build in Virginia rather than a rebrand of an existing spot.

The menu leans on family recipes: gyros, spanakopita, moussaka, fresh salads, and made in house tzatziki. They are especially known for seven dollar gyros every Wednesday, which is the kind of detail that gets a restaurant a loyal weekly following fast.

When it opens

According to Nikos Kontos, the company’s director of operations, the goal is to open by the end of this year, with early 2027 as the backup plan if permitting or build out runs long. That is a normal timeline for a from scratch fit out in a roughly 1,800 square foot space, so do not be surprised if the opening slides a few weeks either direction.

Why this matters for North Point

This is not an isolated opening. North Point Village Center has quietly become one of the better food destinations in Reston over the last couple of years. Call Your Mother and Empanadas de Mendoza both landed here recently, and Robeks is listed as coming soon after leaving its old spot at the Spectrum at Reston Town Center. When a shopping center starts pulling in this many well regarded, growing brands back to back, it tells you something about foot traffic and rent economics working in its favor.

Kontos put it simply when asked why Big Greek Cafe chose this location: it is heavily visited, and the other tenants already bring people in. For homeowners in the neighborhoods around North Point, that steady investment in the retail center just outside your door is a genuine quality of life plus, and it is the kind of walkable amenity that buyers ask about when they are comparing Reston pockets.

The bottom line

If you love Greek food or you just want one more reason to walk to North Point instead of driving across town, keep an eye out for the opening announcement later this year. I will update this post once there is a firm date. And if you are curious what a home near North Point is worth in today’s market, that is a conversation I am always happy to have.
