If you live in Reston, be forewarned: things are about to get spooky!
Kids love Halloween and there is more than one night’s worth of Halloween fun (and candy!) in Reston. Let your kids experience a walk through an illuminated pumpkin patch, a visit to a fall festival, a Halloween story time, and trick-or-treating on several dates before Halloween night even arrives! After all this, your kids will still be able to look forward to trick-or-treating in your Reston neighborhood. Halloween has never been so sweet!
Special Halloween Events
The Glow: A Jack ‘O Lantern Experience, Lake Fairfax Park, 1400 Lake Fairfax Dr.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the walk through this wonderland of more than 5,000 intricately hand-carved and illuminated pumpkins. Besides viewing the amazing artistry of the pumpkins on display, master carvers offer demonstrations and tips on carving pumpkins at home. This event is chock full of photo ops and there are food trucks on site to help make your visit a full-blown outing! Tickets are timed and a bit pricey ($22.99 for adults; $16.99 for kids age 3-12), but discounted tickets are available for the final entry time each night ($16.99 for adults; $10.99 for kids). Thursdays through Sundays until Oct. 28.
Fall Festival at the Reston Farm Market, Reston Farm Market, 10800 Baron Cameron Ave.
Kids will love the train rides and moon bounces at the Reston Farm Market. There are also special events and entertainment on the weekends, including face painting (Oct. 27), the “Jacks are Wild” dog show, and the Teal Pumpkin Project (Oct 28). Stroll around, enjoy some apple cider and pick up some pumpkins and seasonal décor. Admission is $10 weekdays, $15 weekends. Kids under 2 free. Daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (5 p.m. on Sundays) until Nov. 4.
Busia Bears Halloween Extravaganza Reston Regional Library, 11925 Bowman Towne Dr.
Kids aged 3-8 will hear some Halloween stories, take part in a costume parade, and enjoy trick-or-treating around the library. Oct. 27, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Trick-or-Treating Events
“Paw Patrol” Trick-or-Treat Event, Target, 12197 Sunset Hills Rd.
This fun event invites kids to wear their costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating at Target. Kids will also get to watch an exclusive, new Paw Patrol episode and score some free giveaways while supplies last. Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Reston Town Center Trick-or-Treating, Reston Town Center
Look for the pumpkin flyer in the window of retailers who are participating in this fun trick-or-treating event at the Town Center. Oct. 27, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Trunk or Treat, Forest Edge Elementary School, 1501 Becontree La.
Kids can Trick-or-treat at decorated car trunks in the Forest Edge Elementary School parking lot. Sponsored by Restoration Church. Oct. 27, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
